Alex Iwobi Tests Positive For COVID-19!
After testing positive for Covid-19, Nigeria’s Alex Iwobi has been ruled out of the final 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Lesotho.
Before Saturday’s AFCON match against the home team, which Nigeria won 1-0, the Everton forward tested positive in Benin Republic. On Sunday, he joined the rest of the team in returning to Nigeria.
Iwobi has left the camp, Babafemi Raji, a spokesman for the Eagles said. “Before he left, he did not show any symptoms, he was fine. The team will follow up on him.”
Nigeria has already qualified for the 2021 AFCON, which will be hosted by Cameroon in January 2022, with 11 points from five matches.
On Tuesday, March 30, the Super Eagles will meet bottom-placed Lesotho at the National Stadium in Surulere in their final qualifier.
