How 24 Family Members Died Of Food Poisoning In Sokoto

Food Poisoning Kills 24 Family Members In Sokoto.

In Danzanke village, Isa Local Government Area, Sokoto State, 24 persons in a single household have been declared deceased as a result of food poisoning.

Dr Ali Innamem, the State Commissioner for Health, verified the incident on Tuesday, saying that the family used a sort of fertiliser known as ‘Gishirin Lalle‘ in Hausa as a spice in place of salt when cooking.

Attempts to save the victims’ lives by giving medical care, according to Innamem, were unsuccessful.

“Regrettably, the entire family who had the meal lost their lives except for two female members, who merely tasted the food and are currently responding to treatment.

“It is very important for the public to know that this incident, though preventable and not contagious, is extremely fatal even with the best of medical attention and care,” he said.

The commissioner advised Nigerians to be vigilant at all times in order to avoid such an incidence in their homes.
