Mfon Jeremiah, 39, of FIRRO Estate off Adesan, Mowe, was arrested by Ogun State Police Command for impregnating his 13-year-old biological daughter (name withheld).
The suspect was apprehended in response to a report filed at Mowe divisional headquarters by the victim’s mother, who stated that she discovered her daughter was pregnant and when she inquired from the daughter, she was told that it was her father who impregnated her.
The victim was taken to the hospital, where it was discovered she was four months pregnant.
Following the report, the DPO Mowe division, SP Folake Afeniforo, dispatched detectives to the suspect’s residence, where he was promptly apprehended.
During interrogation, the suspect admitted to being responsible for his daughter’s pregnancy, but claimed he was under a spell at the time. He told the cops that he had fantasized about having sex with his wife, who has been estranged from him for some time, only to discover that he had sex with her daughter.
Confirming the incident, the state police command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, has directed that the suspect be transferred to the state Criminal Investigation Department’s anti-human trafficking and child labor unit for further investigation and possible prosecution.
