Lagos State Government Places Total Ban On Okada Riders In Six Local Govt Areas, To Take Effect On June 1st.
The Lagos state government has placed a ban on commercial motorcyclists, also known as Okada riders, from operating in six local government areas across the state.
Governor Sanwo-Olu declared that the whole ban will take effect on June 1 in the following local government areas: Ikeja, Surulere, Eti-Osa, Lagos Mainland, Apapa, and Lagos Island, at a meeting with the state Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, DPOs, and Area Commanders today, May 18.
This order comes only days after a mob assassinated David Imoh, a sound engineer who was allegedly trying to mediate an argument between an Okada Rider and his two coworkers over a N100 change in Lekki Phase 1.
