Peter Obi And Governor In A Closed Door Meeting.
The governor of Rivers, Nyesom Wike, and Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party, met in closed doors today, June 22.
Even though what was discussed during the discussion has not been made public, it was learned that the Port Harcourt meeting lasted for a number of hours.
Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate for the People’s Democratic Party, reportedly formed a team to appease and court Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, and some other irate PDP members, according to a report earlier today.
The pick of Ifeanyi Okowa, the governor of Delta State, as Atiku’s running mate, is also said to have caused a problem within the PDP.
All Naija Trends recall that Wike, who had been on the radar of the PDP heavyweights, was rumoured to have been selected as Atiku’s running mate.
However, the party denied reports that its Selection Committee had settled on the Rivers State governor as the party’s vice-presidential candidate
The PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, dismissed media reports that the party had chosen Wike, saying the National Working Committee was looking into the matter and consulting to determine the best vice presidential candidate for the party in the 2023 elections.
