Popular Nigerian singer and songwriter, Temilade Openiyi, known professionally as Tems, is being dragged online over her white Lever Couture SS23 net outfit to the Oscars.
The Nigerian singer was nominated for “Best Original Song” courtesy of her collaboration with American singer Rihanna and others on ‘Lift Me Up’.
They lost the award but Tems became center of attention due to her ‘view-blocking’ outfit which many people consider ‘insensitive’ as it obstructs the view of those sitting behind her.
The 2023 Oscars was held on Sunday night, March 12, 2023, at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, US.
Tems became number one trending person on Twitter as users react to her outfit.

Bonzee creations: “What in the name of fashion is this? Is that why she’s trending for the wrong reason? Cos people sitting behind would be affected. We need to learn to show consideration to other people. She would have still looked hot without the hoodie design. Oyinbo folks don dey drag her Sha with a pic of her sitting in the crowd… purpose defeated.”
Lady purity: “Beautiful but please it’s too much… imagine using your dress to obstruct people’s view.”
Soufancy: “Lmao not caring about anyone behind her!”
Suzzy: “Gorgeous but wasn’t suitable for the occasion. More of a Met Gala kind of outfit.”
Doris Iamreal: “Very inconsiderate I thought because she was covering the people behind her. Wrong choice of everything for sitting inside.”
Marie: “Beautiful dress. But she should have been considerate of other people’s view or sit at the corner of back…just saying.”
starr: “Nice, but insensitive. She definitely obstructed the view for those behind her.”
ussahh: “I kinda feel this outfit is wrong for the said event. She’s beautiful though.”
Blessed bey: “Missed opportunity. She is beautiful but the outfit choice was a miss”.
