Prince Philip, The Duke Of Edinburgh And Husband Of Queen Elizabeth II, Dies At 99.
Queen of the United Kingdom, Elizabeth II, has announced the death of her husband Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, who died this morning, April 9 at Windsor Castle at the age of 99.
A statement released by the royal family reads:
“It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen announces the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.
Further announcements will be made in due course.
The Royal Family join with people around the world in mourning his loss.

According to a Royal Family biography, Philip went to school in France, England, Germany, and Scotland before enrolling in the Royal Naval College in 1939. The college, located in Dartmouth, England, educates future naval officers.
King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, visited the college at the time, accompanied by their daughters Princess Elizabeth and Princess Margaret. There, Elizabeth, who was 13 at the time, fell in love with Philip and began exchanging letters with him.
They were distant cousins, descended from Queen Victoria and a 19th-century Danish king.
Philip and Elizabeth got engaged in 1946 and married in Westminster Abbey the following year.
