A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has declared All Progressive Congress (APC) primaries in the state null and void.
Recall that some disgruntled APC members loyal to the SDP’s Governorship Candidate, Senator Magnus Abe, had petitioned the Court to challenge the conduct of the Primary election, claiming exclusion from the delegates’ primaries held in the State.
One George Orlu and four others who claimed to have purchased nomination forms had petitioned the court, requesting that the APC primaries in the state be declared null and void due to their alleged exclusion from the process.
The court ruled yesterday, October 24, that the individuals were unlawfully excluded from the primaries.
In his decision, Justice E.A. Obile agreed with the plaintiffs that they were wrongfully barred from participating in the party primaries.
As a result, he ruled that all those elected in the primary are null and void and should not be recognized as candidates.
