Covid-19: Biden Urges State, Local Governments To Pay $100 To Vaccinated People

US President Biden Is Urging States And Local Governments To Pay $100 To Each Person Who Receives A Vaccine.

President of the United States of America, Joe Biden, has announced new initiatives to boost vaccination rates across the country.

He urges state and federal governments to spend a portion of their COVID-19 relief funds to pay residents $100 for getting the vaccine.

The Democrat said on Thursday:

“I’m calling out all states and local governments to give $100 to everyone who gets fully vaccinated. It might sound unfair to folks who have gotten vaccinated already. But here’s the deal: if incentives help us beat the virus, we should use them.

“We all benefit if more people get vaccinated. In February, Kroger offered $100 to their associates if they got vaccinated, and it worked. Vaccination rates moved up from 50 percent to 75 percent among employees.

“New Mexico, Ohio and Colorado offered similar incentive programs that have helped increase vaccination rates.”

Biden also announced a number of other measures, including one that will guarantee that employees across the county will be given paid time off to obtain the vaccine.

“I hear people are unable to get time off to get vaccinated. This is unacceptable. For some time now, (I’ve been saying) people should be able to get the shot and still get paid. Thanks to the American Rescue Plan, the federal government is reimbursing… businesses to give people time off to get vaccinated.”

Biden believes it’s time to go a step further and reimburse businesses who give employees paid time off to get family members vaccinated.

Furthermore, the Biden administration is requiring all federal employees to get immunizations or face COVID-19 testing and limits on work-related travel.
