Blessing Ochong, a 27-year-old housekeeper, was arrested and charged with stealing N1.6 million in jewelry from her employer.
Inspector Glory Goodday, the prosecution’s counsel, told the court on Monday, September 26, that the defendant, who lives at 56 Igbehinadu St., Bolade Oshodi, committed the crime on August 8 at no. 3 Irepodun St., Oke-Ira, Ogba, Lagos.
Goodday told the court that the complainant’s gold jewelry and a wedding ring worth N1.6 million went missing after the defendant finished cleaning her room.
According to the prosecutor, the case was reported to the police station and the defendant was arrested.
The defendant, on the other hand, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mr. M. A Adegbaye, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Adegbaye adjourned the case for October 12.
